Dailekh school wants budget to repair roof

Dailekh: A lower secondary school at Sigaudi VDC in the district is finding it hard to provide education to children for want of physical infrastructure.

Though the roof of a four-room building of the Nepal Rastriya Lower Secondary School was destroyed in monsoon last year, the authorities concerned have not paid attention towards repairing it, said Headmaster Dhan Bahadur Bohara.

He said he urged the authorities concerned for help time and again, but to no avail.

“We faced severe difficulties to teach children under the open sky throughout the year and it will be impossible to run classes in the upcoming summer season,” a teacher said. The school is providing education to 380 children.

According to the District Education Office, buildings of 33 schools in the district are in dilapidated condition.District Education Officer Ambika Prasad Acharya said an all-party meeting has already distributed budgets to these schools to build and repair physical infrastructure.

He, however, said schools which are facing severe problems will be helped after an inspection.
