“Where there are people in need, we’ll be there lending our hands, our smiles and our encouraging words.”
Welcome to the Nepal Children’s Orphanage Home (NECO) website which provides updates about all of NECO’s affairs and activities!
NECO orphanage began in the autumn of 2006 to serve destitute Nepalese orphans between the ages of 5 to 12. Our mission as a 501 © (3) organization is to provide these children with food, shelter, clothing, medical and dental care, moral training, and English-medium education.
Unlike most orphanages in the world, we are not devoted to simple childhood survival, we also focus on education and moral development. We believe that only through education, can our NECO children break the cycle of poverty, becoming productive citizens and leaders of their communities. With your help, our children can achieve greatness.
Home Orphanage, Not Institution
NECO Home is a “home orphanage” or family home, not an institution. We see our contributors and sponsors as part of our extended family. With that in mind, we try to devote as much time as we can to keep in touch via personal email, Skype, newsletters, children letters/artwork, and updates of the children’s progress on our blog, Facebook and Flickr.
By Nepali standards, we have a beautiful home and garden. It took seven years of financial struggles on our low incomes to build. It is entirely funded and maintained at the expense of the owners, so all donations go directly to the care of the children, not toward the physical infrastructure.
NECO is fully registered by the Government of Nepal as well as in the United States (NECO Foundation) to ensure you of complete transparency of our organization. Your valuable donations go directly to our children.
